Riders are documents that outline your technical and hospitality requirements for a show. Roadcase supports two types of riders, both with rich-text editing, built-in templates, and PDF export.

Rider types

Technical rider

Your tech rider specifies the production requirements for your performance:
  • Front-of-house (FOH) sound requirements
  • Monitor requirements
  • Backline needs
  • Lighting requirements
  • Power requirements
  • Stage dimensions and load-in details

Hospitality rider

Your hospitality rider specifies food, beverage, and comfort requirements:
  • Dressing room requirements
  • Food and catering
  • Beverages
  • Towels, toiletries, and other amenities
  • Parking and transportation

Creating a rider

  1. Navigate to Riders in the sidebar
  2. Click New rider
  3. Choose the rider type: Tech or Hospitality
  4. Give it a name (e.g., “Standard tech rider” or “Festival hospitality rider”)

Using built-in templates

Roadcase provides starter templates for both rider types:
  • Standard tech rider template — Pre-structured sections for FOH, monitors, backline, lighting, and power
  • Standard hospitality rider template — Pre-structured sections for catering, beverages, dressing room, and amenities
Select a template when creating a new rider to start with a professional structure. Then customize the content for your specific needs.

Rich-text editing

Rider content is authored with a rich-text editor that supports:
  • Headings and subheadings
  • Bold, italic, and underline formatting
  • Bulleted and numbered lists
  • Tables
  • Links

Using riders in advances

Riders are a core component of show advances. When you share an advance with a venue, your tech and hospitality riders are displayed as formatted documents. Attach riders to advance templates so they are automatically included every time you advance a show.

Exporting riders

Click Export PDF to generate a printable rider document. The PDF includes:
  • Rider content with all formatting preserved
  • Artist logo (if uploaded)
The PDF is designed to be emailed to venues or printed for on-site reference.

Multiple riders

Create multiple riders for different scenarios:
  • Club tech rider — Standard requirements for club shows
  • Festival tech rider — Adjusted requirements for festival stages (where backline may be shared)
  • Acoustic rider — Simplified requirements for stripped-down performances
  • Green room rider — Detailed hospitality requirements for larger shows
Attach the appropriate rider to each show’s advance based on the venue and situation.
